Abstract	Cilj istraživanja bilo je ispitati citotoksično djelovanje biljaka: zečji trn (Ononis spinosa), zdravac (Geranium macrorrhizum), stolisnik (Achillea millefolium) te neven (Calendula officinalis) na karcinomske stanice pluća A-549, dojke MDA-MB-231 te mokraćnog mjehura T24 i RT4. Pretpostavka je da će se nakon izlaganja karcinomskih staničnih linija biljnom ekstratu smanjiti preživljenje karcinomskih stanica, to jest broj karcinomskih stanica će biti manji u odnosu na kontrolnu skupinu stanica koje nisu izložene ekstraktima. Citotoksičnost se određivala nakon 4, 24, 48 i 72 sata MTT testom. Ovo istraživanje pokazalo je da in vitro izlaganje stanica karcinoma pluća A-549, dojke MDA-MB-231 te mokraćnog mjehura T24 i RT4, ekstraktima biljaka zečji trn, zdravac, stolisnik te neven dovodi do smanjenog preživljenja tih stanica. Smanjeno preživljenje nije jednako kod svih biljnih ekstrakata, kod jednakih koncentracija i vremenskih intervala izloženosti djelovanja. Smanjenje preživljenja nije uvijek bilo u razmjeru s povećanjem koncentracije ekstrakta.
Abstract (english)	Our goal was to examine cytotoxic effect of plants: Restharrow (Ononis Spinosa), Bevan's Variety (Geranium macrorrhizum), Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) and Marigold (Calendula officinalis) on lung cancer cells A-549, breast cancer cells MDA-MB-231 and urinary bladder cancer cells T24 and RT4. According to the hypothesis, the survival rate of cancer cells will be reduced after exposure of cancer cell lines to herbal extract, meaning that the number of cancer cells will be lesser in relation to control group of cells which are not exposed to herbal extract. The cytotoxicity was determined after 4, 24, 48 and 72 hours by MTT test. This research shows that in vitro exposure of lung cancer cells A-549, breast cancer cells MDA-MB-231 and urinary bladder cancer cells T24 and RT4 to the plant extracts of Restharrow, Bevan's Variety, Yarrow and Marigold leads to reduced survival rate of those cells. The reduced survival rate is not equal to every plant extract, to equal concentrations and time intervals of the exposure. The reduced survival rate was not always in proportion to the increase of the concentration of the extract.
