In this diploma thesis sorption of copper ions on geopolymer dependin-g on different initia3l concentrations of-3copper ions solutions (3,373 mmol dm-33, 7,780 mmol dm 3, 13,458 mmol dm- , 17,780 mmol dm , 23,627 mmol dm-3 i 29,559 mmol dm- ) was investigated. The experiment was conducted at a constant temperature of 300 K, a stirring speed of 150 rpm for 48 h, on the geopolymer particles (synthesized from fly ash Class F) diameter d < 90 microns. The influence of the equilibrium concentration of copper ions on equilibrium amount of sorbed copper ions was investigated. An increase is evident in the equilibrium amount of copper ions sorbed on geopolymer (qe) with the increase in equilibrium concentration of copper ions in the solution (ce) to a certain value, which represents the maximum experimental sorption capacity of copper ions on g1eopolymer in the given conditions (300 K, 150 rpm, 48 h) with the value of qmax = 1,169 mmol g- . After that, the values slightly decrease and increase again. Results obtained were tested on Langmuir, Hill, Baudu i Fritz- Schlünder adsorption model. Hill adsorption model showed the best agreement with the experimental data and it can be concluded that sorption of copper ions on homogeneous sorbent surface from aqueous solution of copper(II) nitrate trihydrate is a monolayer sorption process.
